Please help on some technical questions re: building a RAG chatbot system

Hi I am attempting to build a end-to-end chatbot with retrieval functionality with basically 0 LLM experience and I would really appreciate it if I can get some tips. High-level speaking I am trying to build a chatbot that I can program with natural language instructions and have the bot retrieve the right information based on natural language instructions.
