The Principal Applied Scientist will work on the Bing Ads Understanding team, contributing to machine learning projects focused on ad quality, natural language processing, and data mining. The role involves building production models and crafting prompts for Large Language Models (LLMs).

Your Responsibilities:

  • Model Development: Build and maintain production machine learning models to predict ad quality and generate text assets.
  • Data Insights: Use machine learning, feature engineering, and data mining techniques to derive insights from large datasets.
  • Experimentation: Design experiments, analyze data, and produce actionable conclusions.
  • Prompt Crafting: Design and optimize prompts for effective Large Language Models (LLMs) performance.
  • Collaboration: Work with a world-class R&D team to solve problems and deliver innovative solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, or related field.
    • 3+ years of relevant experience (Doctorate), 4+ years (Master's), or 6+ years (Bachelor's).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proven experience delivering and maintaining machine learning products.
    • Strong skills in TensorFlow, PyTorch, deep learning models (CNN, RNN), and algorithm development.
    • Expertise in Natural Language Processing (NLP), regression, classification, and optimization techniques.
  • Interpersonal Skills:
    • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Self-motivated with a strong drive to solve complex business problems.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with cutting-edge machine learning technologies and frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras).
  • Knowledge in parallel processing, distributed systems, and high-performance computing.
  • Hands-on experience with computer vision and image processing tools such as OpenCV.
  • Proven track record of working with large datasets and web-scale data.
